A Discussion on “Kell On Earth” Vs “The Rachel Zoe Project”

So, from your comments, it seems like most of you enjoyed Kell On Earth, right? While I was watching, I kept comparing it to Bravo’s other inside-fashion show, The Rachel Zoe Project. Obviously, both are about highly successful, stressed out women with small empires, but while Rachel’s show is about fashion, Kelly Cutrone is about business. This point was driven home constantly by Kelly and her staff: when Kelly yells at her young assistants that this isn’t college, this is million of dollars of people’s money, she’s honing in on why these seemingly mundane tasks are portrayed so dramatically. Bravo Announces New Shows and Premiere Dates

Bravo sent out a mega, novel-sized press release over the weekend announcing the pick up of a ton of new shows, with premiere dates. Are you taking notes? I will quiz you on this knowledge later!

First things first, Real Housewives of New York City’s Bethenny Frankel’s solo show finally has a title. It’s not Skinny In The City as previously rumored, but (are you ready for this?) Bethenny’s Getting Married?, with question mark included. Other rumored titles included Bethenny Doesn’t Need Photoshop and Bethenny Is Down There. Next up is the perplexing move to continue to give Jackie Warner, breast …read more

Rachel Zoe Has Gone Bananas

Rachel Zoe Has Gone Bananas

After watching Rachel Zoe complain about the media’s treatment of her for being so skinny on last season’s Rachel Zoe Project, the stylist and one-woman empire does the only logical thing and gets herself photographed in a bikini while vacationing in St. Bart’s with her husband Rodger Berman. And the blogs, they have gone wild.
I wouldn’t rip on someone for being heavy so I’m not going to snark on her for being too thin, but another thing we saw last season was Rachel being constantly sick and being sent to a nutritional clinic, so it’s painful to see someone who …read more

Taylor Jacobson Leaves Rachel Zoe, Inc.

Taylor Jacobson Leaves Rachel Zoe, Inc.

It’s finally happened, after a whole season on The Rachel Zoe Project where her main motivating force was how much she despised working there, Taylor Jacobson of the Sunglass-Wearing Jacobsons, has left the fur-covered bosom of Rachel Zoe.
In an email obtained by Fashionista.Com, Taylor says her departure was voluntary.
“After four amazing years at Rachel Zoe Corporation, I’m saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap to go off and style on my own.”
I wonder if Taylor will take any celebrity clients with her? Who …read more

Chelsea Lately Spoofs The Rachel Zoe Project

Chelsea Lately Spoofs The Rachel Zoe Project

Making fun of Rachel Zoe is becoming the thing to do amongst female comedians. Here is another parody of the star and her Bravo show, The Rachel Zoe Project, featured on Chelsea Lately. It’s too bad that the weakest of the spoofs will end up getting the most attention by virtue of it being on a national TV show. The funniest part is the portrayal of Taylor and the running gag of Zoe Camp’s latest client.
What do you think is the best of the Rachel Zoe sketches? This one, Amy Phillips (she did two) or Beth Crosby?

Rachel Zoe Project Season 2 Finale Guest Recap

The Rachel Zoe Project season finale ended this Monday. I’ve already expressed how I was a little underwhelmed by this season, so I thought I’d get one of my awesome Twitter followers and pop culture scholar Elisa Kreisinger to help me out and give her thoughts. It’s a little more thinky than we usually get here, but it’s some great analysis of the finale!
The faux drama continued last night with the manufactured conflicts of Rachel’s health on the season finale of The Rachel Zoe Project. It seems convenient that her health problems crept up just in time …read more

Rachel Zoe Project Season Two Finale Airs Tonight

Rachel Zoe Project Season Two Finale Airs Tonight

The Rachel Zoe Project bows out of its second season tonight. I have to say, the second season of the show didn’t captivate me as much as the first. I think the first season, where we got to watch styling associate and wearer of bow ties Brad Goreski navigate his way through the world of Zoe Camp gave the show a little something for us little people at home to relate to. It also had the bonus of the conflict between Taylor and Brad. The second season didn’t have a main conflict, except with Taylor’s constant complaining about how …read more

Rachel Zoe On The Today Show

Rachel Zoe On The Today Show

Rachel Zoe visited Kathie Lee and Hoda on the 4th hour of The Today Show this morning, to plug her QVC line and talk a little bit about the show. Hoda asked Rachel why her weight was always such an issue, which Rachel blamed on the media “needing something to hold on to” which is an interesting way to put it, considering the issue is she doesn’t have much to hold on to!
In some ways, I think Rachel is right: she’s not responsible for the obsession with thinness that the fashion industry perpetuates. It annoys me that people are …read more

Taylor Has Her Own Passive Aggressive Fashion Week [Rachel Zoe Project]

Taylor Has Her Own Passive Aggressive Fashion Week [Rachel Zoe Project]

On last week’s Rachel Zoe Project, Rachel used more of her Avoidant Management Style and caused some drama in the Zoe Camp when she made them fight for the coveted spot to accompany her to Paris Fashion Week.
Originally, she offered to take both Taylor and Brad, but then “three new jobs came in” and one of them had to stay behind. Not wanting to be the bad guy, Rachel sent an e-mail hoping that Brad would volunteer to stay, but Brad didn’t take the bait. When Taylor explained the tactic, he was pissed at being “tested” that way. Rachel …read more

Sheree Gets A 35K Painting For Free, Jill Zarin vs Kate Gosselin [Link Love]

On last week’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, Sheree got a big-ass portrait of herself to unveil at her independence party. The painter, named Rossin, did the gig for free (worth $35,000) for the publicity, and says Sheree is “way much more interesting” in real life. [AJC]
Kate Gosselin and Jill Zarin were at the same ‘Stars & Stripes” charity event last week. Networking queen Jill went over to introduce herself but Kate’s bodyguard wouldn’t let the two women meet. Maybe because Jill was hanging out with Jon Gosselin this summer? [E!Online]
One of the new employees on MTV’s The City has been …read more
