Natalie Portman Veganizes It Up On Top Chef
October 28, 2009 by Maria Diaz
Just like on Top Chef Masters, where they brought in a cute, adored actress with a laundry list of dietary restrictions (the animal-product free, gluten-free, soy-free Zooey Deschanel) it’s now Top Chef 6’s turn to torture their meat loving contestants.
This time, actress Natalie Portman shows up to crush the bacon-wrapped filet mignon with foie gras foam dreams of our chefs. What’s even better about this clip is watching all the chefs run around the kitchen of Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak which is basically a raw meat paradise, and watch their faces fall when Natalie announces that she won’t be eating any of it. They edited this video in a way that the viewer can’t tell what “the catch” is, but it’s well-known that Natalie is a vegetarian/sometimes vegan.
Note: I know that Natalie just wrote a big op-ed in the Huffington Post about her veganism, but a few months ago, it appeared that she had started eating eggs again. So, it looks like she may go back and forth on it. Vegans: don’t kill me!

It’s still today here on the West Coast and TC is about to start.
Did I notice in the previews that Mike Isabella gets a little googly and foot-shifty at the presence of Miss Portman? They all sorta do, but he looks like a real…. “fan” fan!
As much as I disliked Mike Isabella personality-wise, he should not have been the one to pack his knives last night.
Even if they are not judging on past peformance and/or future potential, his dish was not the worst of the three last night. Jen – garnish, really? And Robin having taken up permanent residency in the bottom three .. that should have counted in the decision.
Oh well. Grossly enough, for about five minutes last night I was looking at Mike kinda like.. hmmmm you not so bad, do I kinda not hate you? Then something happened, I don’t recall what, and I was back to ack with him.
Now can add “sore loser” to “condescending asshole” to whichever V-Bro (they are interchangeable to me – both boring, forgettable personalities) was whining about Kevin winning. That just stokes my fire more to see one/both of them lose to Kevin on Finale Night.
Can’t wait for the Reunion Dinner next week! Marcel hahaa he was great TV!
Any vegan who kills you is missing the point of being a vegan!
Dang, I missed this episode. I’ve always wanted to see the chefs be forced to go all veg.
