Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Season 2 Premieres Tonight
November 3, 2009 by Maria Diaz
Okay, listen up: I was very dubious about this show. But, last year (when I started writing this very blog) I caught it during a marathon and was instantly hooked. Tabatha Coffey, the star of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover is ruthless in her treatment of bad salon owners but it’s a tough love; she wants to instill in them what it’ll take to succeed and sometimes, as Jeff Lewis says, nice doesn’t cut it.
In the following clip from tonight’s episode, a stylist has a bit of a meltdown. But really, at least try and watch a little bit of it tonight if you’ve never seen it. I can’t promise you it’ll fill the void that your life now has due to Flipping Out’s third season being over, but…let it try.

I was wondering if you were going to post any Tabatha… just seems like this has become all Housewives
I adore Tabatha. And unfortunately, our Housewives generate a lot more news versus the other shows. I really do try to find other things to post on, I get exhausted from the Housewives mania myself!
I caught an episode accidentally too, coming out of the shower one night. By the time I was dried off and pj’d up, I was hooked. I liked her on Shear Genius and knew they were giving her her own show but had forgotten to watch for it.
Another blog compared her to Gordon Ramsay, but Tabatha doesn’t scream, curse, browbeat, or name call. She doesn’t coddle or hold back her words and opinions, but that’s what she is there for and she is always professional and seems to give a care about the success of the salons. Tough Love is the perfect description.
I love her wit, her intelligence, and that wicked accent!
@RJ, though I love Gordon Ramsey, I think Tabatha is more direct and to the point, without the drama – she is uncompromising but everything she says about the salon is simply the truth.
Like Gordon’s Restaurant Nightmares, Tabatha tries to knock some sense into people’s heads.
@Maria – show recaps of any sort are always welcome.
RJ & Becky, I think a long time ago I may have made Gordon Ramsey-ish comparisons to Tabatha, but I agree. Her show has a similar concept, but without some of the hysterics Gordon has in his show, although there are times I can see why Gordon freaks out. There was that one episode where he found the ancient pot of refried beans at the Mexican restaurant and freaked out about poisoning customers. That was kind of amazing.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Restuarant Nightmares. I was only thinking of Hell’s Kitchen. He does take a different approach with the two shows and I do see the similarites with his and Tabatha’s takeover-and-fix-it concepts.
And I see I was mistaken about Tabatha’s cursing and name calling. It’s not as blustery but she does do it. Ramsey’s is eye-rolling and comical whereas Tabatha’s is positively withering.
I wish she would do a Vegas one. I’m currently looking for a new salon/stylist .. would be fun to try out one of her madeover shops.
