Bravo Tidbits

  • Actress Natasha Richardson, who was a guest judge on Top Chef this past season (on the 12 Days of Christmas episode) very sadly passed away after a skiing accident. Bravo’s Andy Cohen attended the funeral and wrote a blog post dedicated to her memory.
  • Another Bravo star got in trouble for fighting with her boyfriend. This time, Project Runway runner up Kenley Collins got arrested for assaulting her boyfriend with 3 apples, a laptop and their cat. She told him that “it could have been worse”.
  • Real Housewife of Atlanta Kim Zolciak continues to be the classy broad she is and flaked on a fund raising event for her charity to go catch some rays in the Bahamas. That intense schedule of doing nothing really wore her out. An interesting note is that Kim’s charity is called Shoes for Shattered Hearts, a very similar name to Nene Leake’s Twisted Hearts Foundation.
  • Orange County housewife Tamra Barney is finally starting to write like herself in her Bravo blog, to surprisingly hilarious results. In her last post she brainstorms some possible book titles: “How to Get A B*!@h Drunk. Housewives Gone Wild. Botox Gone Bad. 18 and Knocked Up.”

“Real Housewives of Orange County” Now Casting

March 23, 2009 by Maria Diaz

A commenter posted a casting call for season 5 of Real Housewives of Orange County, which makes me wonder who is leaving the show. I don’t think Vicki or Jeana would ever leave, Tamra seems pretty entrenched in the show (and whether or not you like it, she plays to the camera and brings the drama, which we all love) leaving Gretchen and Lynne.

My money is on Lynne. Her only storyline was about her daughters and watching teenagers get drunk is not what any of us tune into Real Housewives for. I can also see Gretchen leaving; her story on camera wasn’t compelling at all and frankly, was kind of sleazy and creepy. She only got interesting at the reunion show. But, Bravo could bring her back because she causes such an intense reaction from people and now that she’s dating Slade, it could mean even more drama.

If you live in Orange County and want people like me dissecting your life and actions, here’s the casting call info, straight from Evolution USA, one of the production companies behind the show:

Bravo’s celebrated series about real women, living fabulous real lives, is headed back to the OC! The hit docu-soap TV series gives viewers an inside look at Southern California’s most glamorous Housewives. Bravo is looking for fabulous women and their families to be featured in the next season of the series.

We are looking for outgoing, exciting, strong, focused women who reside in South Orange County and want to share their lives with us.

We are looking for women who are “Housewives” in the present-day sense. They should be lively and energetic, with defined opinions and views. The women will have busy lives, involvement with the community, strong work ethic, an active social calendar and an enjoyment of the good life.

We love women who are self-confident and happy with who they are.

The women, their significant others and families must be open to sharing their experiences with the producers and the television audience.

Which housewife is leaving Real Housewives of Orange County?

December 5, 2008 by Maria Diaz

The sudden addition of another housewife to Real Housewives of Orange County is starting to make way more sense. The preview for next week’s episode tells us that one of the housewives is leaving the show. But which one?

I don’t think it’ll be Gretchen, and Jeana and Vicki seem too entrenched in the show to leave it. Tamra is a non-issue and doesn’t bring much to the table except occasionally getting sloppy drunk and having a tool for a son, so my money is on Lauri leaving. lauriwarning_realhousewivesoforangecounty.jpg

The preview for the next episode shows that her son is battling serious drug problems and she no longer lives in the gated community of Coto De Caza. The last two episodes have driven home the point that Lauri doesn’t see the other women as often anymore, now that she is married and is in charge of 7 children. It’s entirely possible Lauri is over it.

Who do you think is leaving? Speculate in the comments!

I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this dress, but there’s a reason why I’m a writer and she’s a stylist.

Bravo Adds 6th Housewife to Real Housewives of Orange County

December 3, 2008 by Maria Diaz

lynne_curtin_realhousewivesofatlanta.jpgBravo announced today that they were adding a 6th Botoxed and tanned Orange County resident to the cast of Real Housewives of Orange County.

Lucky for us, they have made her easy to distinguish from her co-stars. The new housewife, Lynne Curtin is a brunette and from the sounds of the press release, it appears that her storyline will center around her permissive attitude with her teenage daughters. Look for Lynne’s debut on Real Housewives on the December 16th episode.

Real Housewives Of Atlanta Are In Serious Legal Trouble

December 3, 2008 by Maria Diaz

Via gossip blog Martini & Scotch, we learn what some of the Atlanta housewives are up to and it is not pretty.

First, Sheree Whitfield owes a private investigator a whole ton of money and of course, has nothing to pay him with. There are reports that she had to sell her home , but as Martini & Scotch points out, it wasn’t Sheree’s home to begin with.

Second, Nene Leakes did get evicted from her home, which was a rental and her husband Greg is in trouble for not paying his taxes. She made an interesting statement to  Atlanta Nightspots regarding the eviction:“you don’t know my relationship with Greg so be careful what you report!” What IS her relationship with Greg, then? I thought he was her husband?

The rest of the housewives appear to have remained unscathed. For now, anyway.

Daniel Radcliffe on “Inside The Actor’s Studio” Tonight! [Video]

December 1, 2008 by Maria Diaz

I love how Inside The Actor’s Studio has remained on Bravo, despite the fact that it’s turned into an all catfight, all drama, all reality network.

Tonight, little Daniel Radcliffe will charm us with his accent. Here, he talks about his most famous role, the role of Harry Potter.

Spend Black Friday with The Chad System ["Million Dollar Listing", Video]

November 28, 2008 by Maria Diaz

I really don’t understand the appeal of Black Friday, the beginning of the holiday shopping season in the US and the day after Thanksgiving. I hate waking up early, and I hate crowds; that’s what the Internet shopping is for!

Instead, the Friday after Thanksgiving should be spent chilling out with a beverage and if you are me, some fine reality television. Today, Bravo is gifting us with a few episodes of the real estate show Million Dollar Listing.

The most compelling character of this show is super creepy real estate agent Chad Roberts. In this video, we watch as he moves in with his equally robotic girlfriend Victoria, who apparently had no idea that he was going to bring his furniture with him when he moved into her house.

I feel like they probably sleep in a deprivation chamber together. I’ll just let this video speak for itself:

Real Housewives of OC is Real Boring — Season 4, Episode 1 [Recap]

November 27, 2008 by Maria Diaz

Okay, I am being mean, but after the Real Housewives of Atlanta, I am just not impressed with the first season of episode 1, Season 4 of the Real Housewives of the OC. Of course, I will continue to watch them and recap them for you, but the girls better bring their A-game if they want to earn my love. realhousewives_oc.jpg

Most of this episode centered around new housewife Gretchen, who looks so much like Tamra that I thought they were the same person. They are not. Gretchen is married to Jeff, a man much older than her, who has been married 5 times and who has just been diagnosed with acute leukemia.

The rest of the housewives are up to their old tricks — Vicki is still a workaholic looking to gain happiness by buying more houses (except now she wants a yacht), Jeana is still struggling with her weight and her divorce and Lori is still in love with her husband; we remember that at the end of the last season, she married him, in a dress designed by Project Runway alum Austin Scarlett.

Tamra is still obsessed with being the “hottest housewife” and takes her mom to get a face lift while she gets a little botox. When the doctor tells her that her mom will look 15 years younger, she begins to worry that her mom will be her “competition”.

It’s all about competition in the OC, when Jeana has a trunk show at her house for the ladies to buy some more 800 dollar dresses, Tamra cattily remarks that Gretchen’s boobs can’t possibly be real and Lori wonders aloud if the girls are jealous of her black Amex.

In the face of an enormous economic recession and in the aftermath of the so bad it’s good Real Housewives of Atlanta, the OC housewives are going to have to do a little more than throw their money around and go get Botox to keep us interested.

What’s It Like To Be A “Top Chef” loser?

November 26, 2008 by Maria Diaz

If you’re bored and sleepy and don’t feel like dealing with your family after Thanksgiving dinner, Bravo is premiering new Top Chef web episodes called ‘After The Knife’. It’ll feature what it’s like to live in the Loser’s Den, or as Bravo tactfully calls it, the Eliminated Chef’s House.

Here is a little teaser, straight from Bravo:
