This Is Our Reality: Real Housewives of Orange County Season 4, Episode 6 Photo Recap

January 6, 2009 by Maria Diaz

This was the recap that tears built. I really didn’t want to re-watch it, but I did. Apologies for the late posting! Let’s go through the other stuff first before getting to the infamous CUT scene!

First, Vicki goes out with Brianna and Chardonnay and shows how much she is unraveling by asking Brianna if she loves her dog Lucy more than her. And then takes a swig of wine to cover her feelings.

The other OC kid plot line was Kara Keough getting a summer job at a boutique called Glitter Girl. She is really hamming it up for the camera this week, including this strange scene where she talks about getting a race transplant while being covered in black spray paint (she decides to re-do the back room of Glitter Girl and turn it into a women’s lounge). Is there a Kara spin off in the works? God help us all if there is.

The first cry of the episode came from our girl Tamra, who we recall also cried in the last episode after her tool son Ryan got a tattoo on the inside of his mouth that said “Nugget”. He reveals the reason for getting it was he thought he an his girlfriend were going to have a baby they were also going to name Nugget. It’s the strangest explanation for any behavior since Kim Zolciak’s fake cancer scare. Tamra cries, Ryan chokes up a little.

Former real housewife Jo De La Rosa shows up on the show via Gretchen, who was cast as an extra for Jo’s music video. Probably part of the agreement she signed with Slade Smiley to talk her up to the producers to get her on the show in exchange for her eternal soul. Anyway, Gretchen stands around in the background and no mention is made that Jo used to be a cast member on this very show. Check out the guy cheesing it up behind Gretchen in this shot, I love him!

There is some drama with Lynne’s daughter’s birthday party and in the end, Daddy’s princess gets a new BMW, even though she has yet to get a lisence. I won’t even justify those scenes with shots from that. Except Lynne’s other daughter gets upset because her boyfriend says she is dressed like a stripper for the birthday party and Lynne gets mad because that’s “her dress”.

Lynne and Gretchen go out to dinner where Gretchen tries to bait her into disclosing her age and Lynne doesn’t take it. We find out Lynne’s husband is a cancer survivor, a conversation which Gretchen naturally turns into being all about her.

Anyway, on to the piece de resistance. Lynn finally goes out with the other housewives. I think this is the first time they’ve all been together since the spa episode.

The conversation quickly turns to kids, and Lynne actually yells CUT!

Lynne doesn’t want to talk about kids, you guys. She wants to go out and have fun. By the way, did you know she’s the same size as her teen daughters? Let’s talk about that instead.

Dinner goes on and afterwards, conversation turns to Jeff’s progress with Gretchen talking about how she went on vacation recently. Tamra is all “Jigga what!?” makes what is probably a drunk flippant comment about how she wouldn’t go on vacation while her husband was in ICU.

Gretchen proceeds to cry because she doesn’t like being judged:

Lynne suggests that no one talk of kids OR cancer. Vicki asks who made her in charge of the conversation and to stop controlling what they want to talk about. In one of the most self aware comments ever, she says “This is our reality. Our life is our kids.”

Finally, Gretchen goes home. Jeana, who’s been silent the whole time (watching what Lynne is eating since she has such a “hot body”), suggests Tamra call Gretchen to apologize.

Tamra thinks: Oh hell no. And Vicky agrees with her.

What an exhausting episode, you guys. I’m spent. And we have to do it all again tonight!
