Top Chef Competition Finally Gets Difficult

February 11, 2009 by Maria Diaz

I’m still mourning the loss of Jaime Lauren, but am moving on with this clip from tonight’s episode. Wylie Dufrense, famous molecular gastromonist and chef of New York’s WD-50, will be the guest judge on tonight’s Quickfire Challenge (clip below), to create  an egg based dish that’ll impress Wylie.  Molecular gastronomy requires a lot of creativity and innovation, so the same old mediocre, simple dishes the chefs have been churning out this season will not cut it. Classically trained Carla is nervous, but handles it calmly, which Hosea thinks will put her at a disadvantage.  It’s hard to tell who’s getting the “loser edit” here: underdog Carla or arrogant Hosea.

Finally an episode without Jamie! She had no personality except to be irritating, and her food looked like, and looked as if it tasted like, crap. The next best thing about this episode is that the equally irritating and crappy-food-making Leah got the cleaver.

Carla for the not likely win!
